Leads, guides and directs a large group of technical employees responsible for engineering deliverables in support of the organization's business objectives. Leads engineering execution of team as related to the BrightDrop Core Platform Software deliverables. Provides technical leadership to work team. Interacts and collaborates with many teams cross-functionally. Leads team on new methods or initiatives without defined procedures. Leads team to meet targets. Conducts regularly scheduled Group Meetings, Communicates GM Policies & Procedures, Leadership and Safety Messages. Creates and communicates vision & strategies specific to functional responsibilities. May include preparing and giving presentations. Reviews deliverables and provides candid & constructive feedback. Conducts performance interventions when necessary. Provides timely and consistent feedback to direct employee's as appropriate. Participates in compensation planning and administers compensation treatment. Observes and steps up to remove roadblocks and resolve potential issues.
In this Senior Software Engineering Manager role, you will lead and grow a strong team of engineers, build relationships with customers internally and externally, and champion our vision of building the best platform services and systems for BrightDrop’s new electrified last-mile delivery ecosystem. Recruit, hire, scale, and develop an amazing team of engineers

Be actively involved in providing guidance to the engineering team on architectural direction and system/service design on robust and scalable solutions

Empower the engineering team to achieve a high level of technical productivity, reliability and simplicity

Lead engineering team on high quality and timely execution and delivery of software services

Collaborate across various engineering teams, product, and other cross-functional stakeholders to effectively deliver the best solution to internal and external customers
Additional Description
Qualifications:
-
3+ years of Engineering Management experience
-
7+ years of experience in a Software Engineering role
-
Experience in building or leading backend software areas
-
Experience hiring top talent, building diverse and inclusive teams, foster a culture of healthy work environment that is both supportive and challenging
-
A genuine enjoyment of learning about how things work, with the ability to ask engineers good questions about architecture and product decisions

Ability to work well cross-functionally, and navigate through ambiguity
-
Ability to think rigorously and make hard decisions and tradeoffs
-
Extreme customer focus, committed to investing in partnerships with
other engineering teams to establish empathy and understand their use-cases -
BS/MS/PhD in Computer Science/Engineering preferred

The expected base compensation for this role is: 159,000 - 235,000 USD Annual USD Annual (this is a U.S. National Mid-Range Average. This range does not indicate specific locations which is taken in to account). Actual base compensation within the identified range will vary based on factors relevant to the position, location etc.
Bonus Potential: An incentive pay program offers payouts based on company performance, job level, and individual performance.
