Description

At BrightDrop, we are reshaping e-commerce by developing smarter, greener, and more efficient ways to deliver goods and services to your door, while delivering a brighter future for the cities where we live. We are building an ecosystem of all-electric, zero-emissions delivery solutions – from electric vehicles, to ePallets and software that leverages real-time data to drive intelligent optimizations for e-commerce. To deliver on our mission we are growing fast and building a team, based in Palo Alto, with offices in Atlanta and Detroit, that is customer-focused, agile and passionate about innovating for a more sustainable future.

From engineering to product management and operations, BrightDrop is looking for people who can combine a passion for technology and sustainability with high doses of curiosity and rigorous thinking to deliver a better future.

Backed by General Motors, BrightDrop is striving to improve the communities where we live and deliver a better future for generations to come. We hope you’ll join us.

The DevOps/Cloud Engineer Position is an exciting opportunity to join a growing team and contribute to the overall growth and success of a fast growing company.  You will have ownership and responsibility for the start-to-finish of application delivery and infrastructure provisioning and will work with the architects and application teams to understand requirements and ultimately implement required scripting, automation, pipelines, and infrastructure as code.

You will be responsible for creation and standardization for repeatable delivery of infrastructure and applications with the use of modern industry tools and best practices. Environments, configuration, and applications will be managed by automation so everyone can focus on delivery of new capabilities and not on day-to-day deployments or environment consistency. You will build an end-to-end delivery pipeline for all applications & Azure Infrastructure that removes manual steps, ensures consistency, and leverages desired state patterns.

Technologies we plan to use include Azure, Kubernetes, Terraform, Azure DevOps Pipelines, PowerShell, Linux Scripting (limited), Docker, Standard Networking such as layer 7 devices and firewalls and HTTP/s traffic routing, and other relevant tooling. You will need to employ enterprise & cloud concepts such as Disaster Recovery, Auto Scaling, Monitoring & Alerting, Advanced Troubleshooting, and Security. Proven proficiency in a secure enterprise production environment with all these technologies and concepts is a must.

Limited automation exists today so you will enhance and/or rewrite existing automation as required and design & document the deployment and automation architecture. You will lead review of this with architects and stakeholders and integrate feedback before, during, and after implementation. You will train and knowledge transfer to additional DevOps/Cloud Engineers when required. If the team grows, there may be opportunity to lead.

We need a self-starter who will drive forward to completion and who knows when to ask questions, when to dig-in and find answers, and when to seek review for critical decisions. Communication and collaboration skills with application teams, architects, and project management will be required daily.

We are looking for an experienced rockstar who can build the delivery pipeline for our future!
